Layoffs, South Side clinic consolidations planned as Cook County Health grapples with pandemic, ballooning charity care

Cook County Health plans to lay off more employees and close two South Side outpatient clinics before the end of the year in an attempt to cut spending during a pandemic that could inflict a projected $187 million budget deficit next year.
